วัดชัยพระเกียรติ Chaiprakit temple
เดิม ชื่อวัดชัยผาเกียรติ์ เป็นวัดในเชียงใหม่มาตั้งแต่โบราณ ในรัชสมัยของพระเจ้าเมกุฏิ วิสิทธิวงศ์ ต่อมาพระมหาเทวี จิระประภา สร้างวัดและพระประธานในวิหาร เพื่อเป็นอนุสรณ์ถวายสมเด็จพระชัยชาชาธิราช กษัตริย์ในวงศ์สุวรรณภูมิ ซึ่งปกครองกรุงศรีอยุทธยาระหว่าง พ.ศ. ๒๐๘๑- ๒๐๘๘ น้ำหนักทองที่หล่อพระคือ ห้าตื้อ หนึ่งตื้อเท่ากับสิบโกฏิ น้ำหนักทองห้าตื้อเท่ากับ ห้าสิบโกฏิ จึงเรียกพระประธานว่า พระเจ้าห้าตื้อ ตามหลักจารึกที่ฐานพระว่าสร้างเมื่อจุลศักราช ๙๒๐ ตรงกับ พ.ศ.๒๑๐๑ วัดชัยผาเกียรติ ต่อมาเรียกว่า วัดชัยพระเกียรติ จนถึงปัจจุบันนี้
The old name is Chaipakiet. It’s the old temple since Mekutti king reign. Next time the quean of Chiangmai (hightest in that time) name Mahadevi Jiraprapa founded the main Buddha image in this vihan for commemoration of Chairajadiraj king of Ayutdaya Suwanaphum dynasty 2081-2088 they used gold for this Buddha image weigh 5 Tu,1 tu is 10 goat, we call this Buddha image name is Prajao Ha tu. (Prajao mean Buddha image) as inscribed at the base of the Buddha image tell they founded in 2011 BE. And the next time people call Chaiprakiet temple till today.
รูปสิงห์เฝ้าหน้าวิหารวัดนี้แปลกกว่าที่อื่น ไม่รู้ว่าสร้างเมื่อใด แต่หน้าตาน่ารักมากเลย ว่าแต่วัดทางเหนือสมัยโบราณจะใช้สิงห์เฝ้าหน้าวิหารแต่สมัยใหม่ใช้นาคแทน บ้าง เพราะรับเอาวัฒนธรรมมาจากทีี่อื่น It the treaditional to have 2 Lions in front of the temple gate. The old lanna treadition always use lion but new time they use Naka(some kind of imagine animal looks like snake) instead of Lion. They told this treadition from the other land. I thought this Lions very cute face and shape.
