About Taxi service in Chiangmai
Chiangmai has lot of taxi but it's no air-con car. You have to sit in a pickup that adapt to be taxi by putting a roof and seat upon the truck people here always call it name 'Rod dang' that mean Red car ( call it's name by red color car). The price is not sure and you have to negotiate them. Sometime if they know you are a tourist they always up price but normal they are good driver. A bad Rod dang I’m not often find but you have to beware by knowing the reasonable price. Now Chiangmai also has air-con taxi or we call Taxi Meter. It's more comfort but has small number taxi miter not same as Red car. In the city we also have a bus. But it does not drive all area in the city as red car. And if you want to use a bus it's take very long time for waiting. Red car the price starting at 10 bt at short way and upper price if you want to go farer. First you have to tell them the place that you want to go next they will tell you the price or not they may deny to go if they don’t like the price or it’s the hard way just like out of the city too long Red car always doesn’t like to go. But taxi meter start at 35 bt no matter what you want or not.

About the other city in Chiangmai you have to ask Red car or taxi meter or you can also go by bus that cheaper than taxi but you have to wait very long time. A bus to the other city in Chiangmai always same style of red car but the color diffarent such as Maerim car colored yellow, Maetang car white color these car take a few minute to go but you have to know and wait in the way that the car pass.( the price around 6-15 bt from capital to the end of Maerim area. Maerim and Maetang car always run along the same Chotana road but Maetang run longer than Maerim.) Samuang car also yellow color it take 1 hr a car wait. They park for waiting at the right side of Maerim temple.) And I know only the car in my city area (Maerim) car centre(Maerim, Maetang etc.) to the other city almost set in front of AojinHeng gold shop at Kad Luang Market(Big/Varoroj temple) but Maerim and Maetang car also park in front of Chang puak Monument(white elephants monument) at Chotana Rd. About my city, Maerim we also has motorcycle that adapt to be taxi by putting the seat at left side of the bike next time I will show you it’s picture.
Oh, I forgot to tell you. The sign of the car doesn’t have English.
We also have Took Took, Sam Lor, Motorcycle also car or bike for rent but there are shops only in the city.

Thailand very different from the other country we drive left!!!!! Outside the capital don’t have much taxi. Some places don’t have taxi service so you better use car or motorcycle service. This service only in the capital but you could find some in the big resort, hotel or travelling area outside the capital.
A driver in the city almost driving slowly and no rule just like the people life style that love to do everything slowly especially the car from Lumphun they always drive without the rule. If you follow them sometime they turn without any sign. And you have to know the road and sign in Chiangmai city. Here there are a lot of road but I think they are very bad traffic system sometime they make me wonder about the sign that show green and green same time and you have to make your own choice!! Or there are 2 lanes road in the map but you can drive only one way etc.
